DESCRIPTION:SACU Reading Group on May Fourth Writers and their writing – Led by Michael Sheringham (SACU) \nWe have been meeting online to discuss Chinese literature of the May Fourth period – roughly from the beginning of the 1920s to the end of the ‘30s – for the past 8 months. We are a small group meeting once a month to discuss stories and poems by well-known writers of the period\, including Lu Xun\, Mao Dun\, Bing Xin\, Guo Moruo\, Lin Shuhua\, Ding Ling\, Xiao Hong\, Xiao Jun and Yu Dafu – well-known in China\, but not so much overseas even among those interested in China and its cultural tradition. \nSACU members are welcome to join any meeting – we usually meet online at 6.00-7.30 pm on Wednesday mid-month. \nFor more information email: membership@sacu.org.uk
