Great Books of China: Frances Wood
SACU Vice President Frances Wood will give an illustrated lecture on some outstanding works of Chinese literature, drawing from her new book, Great Books of China, which ranges from The Book of Songs, compiled over 2,500 years ago through to late-twentieth-century novels. Frances Wood is a distinguished historian of China and Chinese culture. She was head of the Chinese collections at the British Library until 2013. Her books include Did Marco Polo go to China?, The Silk Road, The First Emperor of China, The Lure of China and Betrayed Ally: China in the Great War (with Christopher Arnander). .Â
