How to Join

SACU is a voluntary, non-profit making organisation that has been dedicated to promoting understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and the UK since 1965.

We encourage people to join us so they can help promote understanding. At the same time you will benefit from the following:

  • Exclusive Events (many are open to everyone, but some are members-only)
  • Printed Quarterly China Eye magazine (if requested, but we prefer members to use the pdf versions from this site)
  • Monthly eNewsletter with a listing of current cultural and social events and topical information
  • Friendship with many people who share your desire to promote deeper understanding between our two countries

Note:  SACU membership subscriptions for new members and renewals are being increased from 1 October 2019 by £5 in all membership categories (but by only £2 for Students). The Membership Secretary will send a reminder to each member shortly before their personal renewal date. All members who have arranged to pay their subscription by an annual automatic payment method (e.g. PayPal or bank standing order) should please update their arrangement before their next renewal is due. Increases to membership subscription rates have been discussed by SACU Council and agreed by the AGM in July. We need to increase membership fees because costs are increasing and rates across all categories have not gone up since 2010.

If you are interested in joining us please fill out the form below and our Membership Secretary will be in touch with you to answer any further questions you may have and to process your application.

We would encourage you to pay your subscriptions via PayPal as this eliminates much of the administrative burden for us (and you!) and allows us to concentrate our limited resources on promoting our society and its aims. If you would like to set this up please use the appropriate button below. Many thanks!
