Celebrate the Year of the Dog with this special family day. Learn how to ribbon dance, try your hand at traditional calligraphy, listen to traditional Chinese stories, watch a lion dance and much more. What better way to start the new year? Free drop-in. Every year since opening in 2003, the museum has hosted a celebration at the museum to mark the Chinese New Year. This is in recognition of the Chinese community in the area, and the cultural significance of Limehouse to the area.

The Meridian Society invites all to join their Chinese New Year celebration. First they will be going for a Chinese new year meal at The Bamboo Flute where owner, Guo Yue, will be host with delicious food and good company. Afterwards the group will be going to BFI Southbank for the documentary 'China's Van Goghs' about Zhao Xiaoyong, a peasant-turned-painter whose family business has produced over 100,000 copies of Vincent Van Gogh artworks.
