We will continue to discuss the writings of Ding Ling 丁玲 based on two short stories, “Shanghai, Spring 1930 – Part 2” and “When I was in Xia Village” (1940) at our next group meeting. Ding Ling made the transition from writing about self-indulgent bourgeois women to one who observed at close hand the life of working people, particularly the peasants in the countryside.
